# N1 IT Landscape — People & organization

## 1\. ORGANIZATION & PEOPLE

N1 Research, LLC (`n1.healthcare`) is a small, hybrid company. GitHub shows **22 people** on the org (Team plan, 25 seats, 22 filled, 2FA enforced for all).

### 1.1 Where people are and how they work

Onsite team | **Malaysia office** (Cyberjaya) | Every onsite person is issued a **company MacBook Pro** (14-inch, M5 Pro; previous-gen for longer-tenured staff — see [§2](/landscape/devices/)). Arun (N1's **Principal Engineer**) instead runs a **Deriv-provided Alienware on Kubuntu** (Ubuntu + KDE).
Remote contract engineers | Mostly **India** | Mostly use their **own personal laptops** ; tracked with **Hubstaff**.

  * **Company-provided MacBook Pros for remote staff: only 2.** Everyone else remote is on a personal laptop. Onsite staff are all on company MacBook Pros.
  * Remote contractor work hours are tracked via **Hubstaff**.

### 1.2 The Deriv relationship (important context)

N1's office is **colocated with Deriv** , the founder's other company. Arun joined the founder from Deriv to build N1; today he **works primarily at N1 but still weighs in on Deriv's engineering when needed**. Practically, this means **N1's office network — and Arun's laptop — are provided by Deriv's IT setup** (see [§2](/landscape/devices/) and [§3](/landscape/devices/)). N1 is operationally its own company (its own Google Workspace, AWS, GitHub, SaaS) but shares physical space and the office LAN/Wi-Fi with Deriv.

### 1.3 Who can touch production

🔒 Production access is restricted:

  * **Production deployments:** only **Arun, Darpan, Jasper**.
  * **Production AWS access:** only **Arun, Eyad, Darpan**.
  * **Production Admin Dashboard (Cloudflare Access allowlist of 7 named emails):** arun, leah, siewmei, neshalini, jasper, jy, darpan.bafana.
  * **Who writes code by hand:** development is overwhelmingly done with **Claude Code** — "nobody writes code" by default. Only **Eyad** and **Arun** occasionally hand-write code, usually when typing it directly is faster than prompting.
